Yarongabilly Caves
We left the lake to visit , Melbourne - a family and big city fix Yarongabilly caves. Down another "not suitable for caravans" track and then we went through a guided, and self guided tour of two different caves. Both were magnificent in different ways - the first had such delicate crystals and perfect formations, the other was huge inside and had collapsed in on itself many years ago so it was rougher but somehow just has magnificent.
why not visit, One week on Stradbroke IslandPossibly the highlight for me, was being shown a live consider, Link Index Footer "straw"(precursor to a stalagtight) that had been broken off over a hundred years ago, that was now 5 centimers long. In 100 years, it had grown 5 cms... and in the cave there was a straw over 7 metres long, and then stalactites many times bigger again in terms of length and diameter... the creation of the caves takes hundreds of thousands of years, but is still happening even though in our lifetime changes are small.
